Veterinary surgeon, Dr. Wendy Ross, founded Crown Veterinary Specialists as a mobile surgical service in 2002. Dr. Ross traveled the state of New Jersey providing soft tissue, orthopedic, and neurological surgical services for primary care veterinarians and their patients. It was during those travels that Dr. Ross recognized a need to bring comprehensive emergency and specialty care to pet owners in Hunterdon County, the western part of the state, and beyond. Her vision to open a state-of-the-art animal hospital staffed by a team of veterinary specialists and experts 24 hours a day was realized when Crown opened its doors in 2010.

The community embraced Crown’s opening and the hospital first began welcoming patients for specialty surgical services. Evening emergency service was added six months later and by 2012, Crown was operating 24 hours a day for emergencies and critical care. Crown’s team of board-certified specialists, veterinary technicians and client care staff were growing to meet the needs of advanced care for family veterinarians and pet owners. Dermatology and rehabilitative services were added, followed by veterinary acupuncture.
